FLORENCE, A LIMITLESS SOURCE OF INSPIRATION

The vitality and abundance of heritage in Florence, Stefano Ricci's birth city, has provided boundless inspiration, passion and charm. His devotion to his hometown has prompted him to undertake crucial work to safeguard and enhance the city, alongside his creative work for his brand.

CLASSICO ITALIA

Based on production that is entirely "Made in Florence", the company established a natural showcase in 1986 when Stefano Ricci first created a consortium of men's high fashion companies, the "Classico Italia". It relaunched Pitti Uomo with the collective aim of showcasing Italian-made excellence in men's fashion.

LIGHTING FOR THE LOGGIA DEI LANZI

To mark the 40th anniversary from its founding, on the day of his fashion show at the Uffizi Gallery, Stefano Ricci donated the new lighting system for the Loggia Dei Lanzi to the city of Florence.

LIGHTING FOR THE PONTE VECCHIO

Stefano Ricci is a citizen of the world, but for three years he also chaired the Florence Centre for Italian Fashion. This yielded the “Firenze Hometown Fashion” project with initiatives geared towards putting fairs such as Pitti Uomo in the spotlight. To mark 60 years of the FCIF, Stefano Ricci provided further proof of his love for his city by donating the new lighting for the Ponte Vecchio bridge, with an aquatic show staged on the Arno River, and a concert by Andrea Bocelli.

FLORENCE, A STAGE FOR THE SOUL

Florence has provided the backdrop for many advertising campaigns: its narrow streets, the Kaffeehaus in the Boboli Gardens and the Loggia Dei Lanzi, to name but a few. Yet there are also “forgotten" locations rediscovered by Stefano Ricci that provided the stage for his collections, such as the Castle of Sammezzano: a tribute to Italian elegance in an extraordinary Moorish setting, steeped in symbolism and an arabesque atmosphere.
Not to mention the exclusive premises of the Stibbert Musem, established by collector Frederick Stibbert. This is a museum in which Stefano Ricci sees a reflection of his own DNA, with a combination of sartorial skill and tradition.

THE ARTS OF FLORENCE: HERITAGE WHICH HAS LIVED THROUGH THE CENTURIES

Subsequent years saw a partnership established with the State Archive of Florence. This involved restoration work on a set of 12 antique volumes, which had been made for both the Silk and Wool Guilds, subsequently underwent a digitalisation process.

IN THE NAME OF LEONARDO

His latest gift to Florence involves Leonardo da Vinci and the insurance of a number of magnificent drawings displayed at the Uffizi by Milan's Veneranda Biblioteca Ambrosiana. This major exhibition opened the celebrations marking 500 years from the death of the Leonardo da Vinci throughout 2019.

A SPECIAL TRIBUTE TO THE GENIUS OF LEONARDO

To celebrate the anniversary of Leonardo, Stefano Ricci has created an exclusive jacket featuring silks made by the Antico Setificio Fiorentino, loosely inspired by the Golden Rule and donated to the Palazzo Pitti Fashion Museum (Florence).
